ABOUT THE MRARA

The Madingley Road Area Residents Association (MRARA) was established in 2016 to give residents along Madingley Road a voice in local matters and a means of communicating and socialising with each other.

It was founded largely in response to the then ‘City Deal’ plans for the area along and around Madingley Road and grew out of the Madingley Road Residents’ Group established a year previously. The MRARA seeks to protect the character of the road, namely a green, leafy entrance to the city through conservation areas and past several Cambridge Colleges, which leads on to the world-renowned ‘Backs’ and historical city centre. We aim to promote safe cycling and walking along a road that is seeing increasing cycle and foot traffic since the opening of the Eddington development and the expansion of the University’s West Cambridge site. We are firmly opposed to damaging, intrusive bus lanes, which increase pollution and likely will not mitigate congestion problems.

We are a FeCRA member and work with other residents associations and our larger neighbours on issues of common concern.
